Westlake Village, North Ranch, Lake Sherwood
Lutron lighting control in Westlake Village.
The estates around the lake, in North Ranch and at Lake Sherwood are where County Line Electric has installed more Lutron HomeWorks systems than anywhere else. Lighting designed with the designer in the room, dimming panels and keypads wired by the crew that wired the house, shades on the view glass, scenes that run on the sun.

Why here
Big glass, long evenings, and houses built around the view.
Westlake Village houses face the lake, the hills or the golf course, and the lighting has to work with that: shades that drop as the afternoon sun comes across the water, interior scenes that come up as it sets without flattening the view, landscape lighting that puts the garden back after dark. Lutron HomeWorks does all of it from one processor, with keypads in every room engraved for how the household lives, and Ketra fixtures in the rooms where the color of the light matters through the day.
County Line has installed these systems in North Ranch, Lake Sherwood, Three Springs and the lake neighborhoods for years, on new construction for the builders who work here and on remodels of the houses built in the 1980s and 1990s, where an honest survey of the existing wiring decides whether a wired HomeWorks system or a wireless Lutron system is the right answer.
The pieces
What a Westlake Lutron system is made of.

Dimming panels
Every lighting circuit in the house landed in centralized panels in a utility room. No banks of dimmers on the walls.

Keypads and scenes
One engraved keypad per room: Cook, Dinner, Evening, Off. Paths that light themselves at night.

Ketra
Light that shifts from cool morning white to warm evening amber from the same fixtures, on a schedule.

Shades
Lutron motorized roller, roman, sheer and blackout shades, quiet, on the same keypads and the same schedule as the lights.

Westlake Village lighting questions
Who installs Lutron HomeWorks in Westlake Village?
County Line Electric, a licensed electrical contractor fifteen minutes away in Newbury Park, designs and installs Lutron HomeWorks lighting control, Ketra tunable lighting and Lutron motorized shades in Westlake Village, North Ranch, Lake Sherwood and the surrounding Conejo Valley, in new construction and in existing homes.
Can Lutron lighting control be added to an older Westlake Village house?
Usually, yes. County Line Electric surveys the existing wiring first. Where the panels and home runs allow it, a wired HomeWorks system goes in; where they do not, a wireless Lutron system delivers most of the same scenes and schedules with far less disruption. The survey comes before any quote.
Do motorized shades work with the lighting system?
Yes. Lutron shades run on the same processor, keypads and schedules as the lights, so a Morning scene can raise the shades and bring the lights up together, and an Evening scene can do the reverse as the sun comes across the lake.

After
Scene changes as the household settles in. A keypad that says Dinner should do what you mean by dinner.
Wired or wireless
The question every existing house asks first.
Lutron makes two kinds of system. HomeWorks is wired: every lighting circuit runs to dimming panels in a utility room, and the keypads are low-voltage devices on a bus. It is the system for new construction and for a remodel that opens the walls, because it is the most reliable and the most capable. Lutron's wireless systems put the dimmer in the wall box where the switch was and talk to a processor by radio. They are the right answer for a finished house that is not being gutted, and they are a great deal better than the smart bulbs and plug-in dimmers that get abandoned after a year.
County Line installs both and tells you which one the house can take. The survey is where that is decided, and it is free.
