Where we work

From Montecito to Altadena.

County Line Electric is based in Newbury Park and works across three counties. The list below is honest: these are the places the crew actually drives to. New construction and rebuild work goes anywhere on the list. Generator, Lutron and automation work is strongest close to the office and in the fire and shutoff zones along the coast and the hills.

How to read this

Distance changes the answer, and we say so.

Newbury Park sits in the middle of the map. Thousand Oaks, Westlake Village, Agoura Hills, Calabasas and Camarillo are minutes away, and County Line can be on site for a generator service call or a lighting consultation the same week. Malibu, the Palisades and the Westside are forty minutes to an hour. Santa Barbara and Montecito are an hour and a half; County Line works there on new construction and larger installations where a crew can be on site for days at a time, and is honest when a small service call that far up the coast would be better handled by someone local.

If your city is not on the list, call anyway. The list describes where the work has been, not a boundary.

The reserve list

Served when the job is right.

Inside the two-hour line, the right kind of work, not yet enough history to put on a city page.

  • Simi Valley93063, 93065. Generators and EV
  • Ojai93023. Estate generators, new construction

  • Santa Monica90402. Custom homes north of Montana, with the Palisades

How the map was drawn

Three questions decide whether a city is on this list.

Is it inside about two hours of Newbury Park, so a crew can be on site for a full day without the drive eating the day? Is the work there the kind County Line does, custom new construction, rebuilds, generators, Lutron and automation, rather than service calls that a local electrician handles better? And has the company actually worked there, or is it close enough to a place it has that the permitting and the utility are familiar? Every city above answers yes to all three. The reserve list, Moorpark, Simi Valley, Ojai, Carpinteria, Santa Monica, Oxnard, answers yes to the first two and is served when the job is right.

The list is not a boundary. It is where the work has been, written down so a builder in Santa Monica or a homeowner in Ojai knows the answer is probably yes before calling.

Permits and utilities

Nineteen jurisdictions, two utilities, one contractor.

The map crosses the City of Los Angeles (LADBS permits, LADWP power), the independent cities of Malibu, Calabasas, Hidden Hills, Westlake Village, Beverly Hills, Thousand Oaks, Camarillo, Ventura and Santa Barbara, and the unincorporated parts of three counties, Topanga and Altadena in Los Angeles County, the Santa Rosa and Ojai valleys in Ventura County, Montecito and Hope Ranch in Santa Barbara County. Everywhere outside the City of Los Angeles is Southern California Edison territory, and its Public Safety Power Shutoffs are the reason so much of County Line\'s generator work is along the coast and in the hills.

County Line pulls permits in all of them. The city pages say what is different in each.

Fire

The fires that shaped this map.

Thomas, December 2017, from Santa Paula through Ventura toward Santa Barbara. Woolsey, November 2018, from Simi Valley through the Conejo hills, Calabasas and Agoura to the Malibu coast. Getty, October 2019, through Brentwood. Mountain, November 2024, in the hills between Moorpark and Camarillo. Franklin, December 2024, in Malibu. Palisades and Eaton, January 2025, which destroyed thousands of homes in Pacific Palisades, the Malibu coast and Altadena. Every one of them is inside County Line's service area, and the rebuilds, the standby generators and the hardened electrical on this site exist because of them.
