Electrical contractor in Montecito and Santa Barbara.
Montecito, Hope Ranch and the Santa Barbara foothills build some of the largest custom homes on the California coast, and they build them slowly and well. County Line Electric comes up the 101 for that work: estate-scale electrical for builders and architects, with the generators and Lutron systems the houses are designed around.

What is different here
Big lots, long builds, and a crew that stays for the phase.
Montecito and Hope Ranch are unincorporated Santa Barbara County, so electrical permits and inspections run through the county's Planning and Development department; the City of Santa Barbara has its own building division for addresses inside the city. Power across the area is Southern California Edison. Montecito sits against the Santa Ynez Mountains in a high fire hazard zone and lives with the memory of the 2017 Thomas Fire and the January 2018 debris flow, so standby power and hardened electrical are part of every serious build here.
Santa Barbara is an hour and a half from County Line's office, and the company is honest about what that means. It takes estate new construction and larger generator and lighting installations where the crew can be on site for days at a time. It does not drive up for a one-hour service call, and it says so rather than quoting a job it cannot serve well.

EVNew construction
Estate electrical for Santa Barbara builders.
A Montecito or Hope Ranch estate is a main house, guest houses, a pool and its equipment, gates and cameras, extensive landscape lighting, often a well and always a generator, with Lutron lighting control and automation throughout. County Line carries the electrical scope on those builds for general contractors and architects, reading the full plan set, coordinating with the lighting designer and the integrator, and keeping rough-in on the builder's schedule. New construction electrical describes the scope.

Santa Barbara questions
Does County Line Electric work in Montecito and Santa Barbara?
Yes. County Line Electric takes on estate new construction, standby generator installations and Lutron lighting and automation systems in Montecito, Hope Ranch, Santa Barbara, Summerland and Carpinteria. Because the office is in Newbury Park, about an hour and a half away, the company focuses on larger jobs where a crew is on site for days, and is honest when a small service call is better handled locally.
Who issues electrical permits in Montecito?
Santa Barbara County. Montecito and Hope Ranch are unincorporated, so permits and inspections go through the county's Planning and Development department. Addresses inside the City of Santa Barbara are permitted by the city's building division. Electric service throughout is Southern California Edison.
Does County Line Electric install generators in Montecito?
Yes. County Line Electric installs Generac standby generators on Montecito and Santa Barbara estates, sized from a load calculation that accounts for wells, pool equipment, guest houses and gates, with the county permit and twice-yearly service.
What an estate needs
Wells, gates, guest houses and the generator that carries them.
A Montecito property is rarely one building. The electrical plan covers the main house, the guest house, the pool house, the gate and intercom at the road, the well and booster pump, landscape lighting across acres and the generator that keeps the water and the gate running through a shutoff. Conduit and fiber between the buildings go in once, during construction, and County Line sizes the service for the whole property rather than the main house alone. It is the same work the company does in Hidden Hills and Malibu, at a longer drive, which is why it stays on site by the week when it is there.
The first call
What County Line asks about your project.
The first conversation is short and specific. Which city and, if it is a hillside or a canyon lot, roughly where. What the house has today: the size of the service, whether there is natural gas, whether there is a generator, a Lutron system or an existing automation head end. What you want to be true in six months. Whether there is a builder, an architect, a designer or an integrator already involved, because County Line works with all of them and would rather meet them at the start than at trim. And when the work has to be done, because the honest answer to a question about schedule is the one that decides whether the company is the right fit.
From that call comes a site visit, and from the site visit a written proposal with inclusions and exclusions listed. No number is quoted on the phone, because a number quoted on the phone is a guess, and a guess is what change orders are made of.
