Beverly Hills, Bel Air, Brentwood

Home automation in Beverly Hills, Bel Air and Brentwood.

Westside estates are built with an integrator, a lighting designer and an architect, and the automation is specified before the framing goes up. County Line Electric builds the backbone those specifications depend on, at rough-in, and installs the systems alongside the integrator or as the integrator.

Why here

The most specified houses in the city, and the wiring that has to match.

A Beverly Hills, Bel Air or Brentwood estate arrives with drawings for everything: a lighting plan, an AV plan, a security plan, a network plan, sometimes a separate theater designer. The electrical contractor's job is to make all of them true in the walls: the conduit to every screen and speaker, the rack room with its power and cooling, the pathways to every camera and keypad, the shade pockets with power, the head end where the integrator needs it. County Line reads those drawings before the walk, builds the backbone at rough-in and attends the coordination meetings so nothing gets discovered at trim.

Where there is an integrator, County Line works alongside them and builds the infrastructure they specify. Where there is not, County Line installs the automation itself: Lutron lighting and shades, security and cameras, multi-room audio and video, the theater, networking and climate, with the control platform chosen with the owner. Permits are City of Beverly Hills or LADBS depending on the side of the line, and power is SCE or LADWP accordingly.

Westside automation questions

Does County Line Electric work with my integrator?

Yes. On Westside estates County Line Electric usually builds the electrical and low-voltage backbone the integrator specifies, at rough-in, and coordinates with them through trim. Where there is no integrator, County Line installs the automation systems itself.

Does County Line install home automation in Beverly Hills?

Yes. County Line Electric designs and installs whole-home automation in Beverly Hills, Bel Air, Holmby Hills and Brentwood: Lutron lighting and shades, security and cameras, theater and multi-room audio and video, networking, climate and energy, with the backbone built at rough-in on new construction or after a survey on existing estates.

What should be decided before framing?

Every screen, speaker, camera, keypad and shade location, the rack room and its cooling, and the conduit paths between them. County Line asks for those decisions at plan review so the backbone goes in once.

The part nobody sees

The network is the house.

Every automation system runs on the network, and the network is where most systems fail. A consumer router in a closet, a single access point for a 6,000 square foot house, cameras on the same wireless as the televisions: these are the reasons a smart home stops being used. County Line builds the network the way a commercial electrician builds one: wired drops to every fixed device, enterprise access points placed from a survey of the house, separate traffic for cameras and for guests, a rack with real power and cooling, and conduit between buildings where there is a guest house or a gate.

That network is also what makes the system replaceable. Control platforms change every few years; a wired backbone does not. A house County Line pre-wires can change its control system without opening a wall.

Decide this before framing

The automation questions a builder should ask at plan review.

  • Where is every television, speaker, camera, keypad, touch panel and shade going, on the drawings, not in a later conversation
  • Where does the rack live, and does that room have power, cooling and a path to the roof for antennas
  • What runs on the generator: the network, the cameras, the gate and the head end should
  • Which buildings need to be connected, and is there conduit between them
  • Who owns the control platform decision, the owner, the designer or an integrator, and when is it made
  • What does the owner actually want to do from a phone, and what should just happen on its own
